HOLISTIC MIDWIFERY CARE
AND SERVICES
To become a midwife in Czech Republic you must get a bachelor degree in midwifery. Then she is a specialist in physiological (normal) pregnancy, labour, birth and postpartum. Due to legal issues you can find midwives mainly in hospitals in labour wards and some in private community practice. Only in the last few years midwives are starting to be primary care providers for physiological women during labour and birth in the hospitals, but it is still not very common nor rutine model of care. There are no Birth Centers in Czech Republic and only few midwives are attending home births.
I have started my career in a hospital, then I have also worked in a private sector. To get more experience I have moved to Mexico where I'm attending births at home, in a birth center and also in a hospital setting.
